Southall Sports Trust & Southall FC held their inaugural Charity Fundraiser on Friday 17th July 2015 at West Middlesex Golf Club Pavilion, Greenford Road, Southall.
The fundraiser welcomed special guests, The Worshipful Mayor of Ealing & her consort, Virendra Sharma MP, Atul Pathak OBE, Councillors from the Boroughs of Ealing, Hayes and Hillingdon along with many more local Business Men and Women from the borough and across West London. Over 200 guests attended the evening and the Mayor welcomed all on behalf of the Sports Trust.
The fundraiser’s main aim was to spread the message that “through the power of sport Southall Sports Trust is looking to unite and bring the communities together”. Local MP, Virendra Sharma (Ealing and Southall) further endorsed the aim of the campaign stating that “only through initiates which encourage cooperation and development can we create a new generation of sports superstars and good citizens”. Southall Sports Trust however still needs more support to help children of all ages to participate in sports right across all disciplines and talent levels.
A Football Camp has been set up at Norwood Hall Playing Fields on Saturday mornings from 09:30am-11:30am. The objective is to get children of all ages, from all communities and all backgrounds to come, participate in the camp and develop their skills and citizenship. As the programme grows so will number of camps and more sports will be introduced. Support from local community groups, religious establishments is paramount to achieve this. With the support of Southall FC, coaches are made available in the mornings to pass on skills and knowledge, and to have fun through sport. Michael Chopra, Southall FC Ambassador, echoed the message in his speech, that being part of a team, working with others and meeting new and different people was very important in today’s society.
Mr Virendra Sharma MP also spoke about how vital it is for everyone to get behind this initiative for future generations. “As well as the fun of playing sport and participating in the activities, it is key that we work to help support health and combat obesity, these are major issues in the country, and they need to be tackled.” Southall Sports Trust and Southall FC would like to say a big “Thank You” to all the guests that attended and donated to the charity on the evening. Organisations such as Football for Peace and Unity Of Faith were in attendance along with local banks, estate agents, law firms, property developers and also special guests from Spain, German Robles Gonzalez- General Manager from Atletico De Madrid Foundation and Marcus Faraji a close friend and supporter of Southall Sports Trust and Southall FC.
